Explore Anguilla

Anguilla, a serene Caribbean island situated in the Lesser Antilles, is renowned for its pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters, and relaxed atmosphere. Its culture is a vibrant blend of African, British, and Caribbean influences, shaped by its history of colonization and the legacy of the African diaspora. English is the official language of Anguilla and is spoken by the majority of the population. The island's British colonial heritage is reflected in its use of English as the primary language, which is also used in government, education, and business. The official currency of Anguilla is the Eastern Caribbean Dollar (XCD), which is pegged to the United States Dollar (USD) at a fixed exchange rate. The Eastern Caribbean Dollar is used for all transactions within the territory, alongside the US Dollar, which is widely accepted. Anguillian culture is characterized by its warm hospitality, vibrant music, and colorful festivals. Calypso, reggae, and soca are popular music genres that reflect the island's Caribbean heritage, while traditional dances like the quadrille and the dinki mini are performed during cultural events and celebrations. The island's cuisine is a delightful fusion of Caribbean flavors, featuring dishes like grilled fish, rice and peas, johnnycakes, and conch fritters. Seafood is plentiful in Anguilla, thanks to its abundant marine life and fishing traditions. Anguilla's cultural heritage is celebrated through various events and festivals throughout the year, including the Anguilla Summer Festival, which showcases local music, dance, and cuisine. The island's vibrant arts scene is also showcased in its galleries, studios, and cultural institutions.
