Explore Aruba

Aruba, a Caribbean island country located off the coast of Venezuela, is renowned for its stunning beaches, vibrant culture, and warm hospitality. The culture of Aruba is a colorful blend of influences from its Indigenous Arawak roots, European colonization, and diverse immigrant communities. Dutch and Papiamento are the official languages of Aruba, with Papiamento being the most widely spoken. Papiamento is a creole language that developed from interactions between Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, and African languages, reflecting Aruba's multicultural heritage. The official currency of Aruba is the Aruban Florin (AWG), which is subdivided into 100 cents. The Aruban Florin is commonly abbreviated as "Afl" or "Æ’" and is used for all transactions within the country. The US Dollar is also widely accepted and often used alongside the Aruban Florin. Aruban culture is characterized by its vibrant music, dance, and cuisine. Traditional music genres such as tumba and calypso are popular during cultural festivals and celebrations, while modern genres like soca and reggaeton are also embraced by the younger generation. Dance forms like the waltz, mazurka, and danza are performed during traditional events. Aruban cuisine is a delicious fusion of Caribbean, Dutch, and Latin American flavors, featuring dishes like keshi yena (stuffed cheese), ayaca (cornmeal cake), and keri keri (fried fish). Seafood plays a prominent role in Aruban cuisine, thanks to the island's abundant marine resources. The island's cultural heritage is celebrated through various festivals and events throughout the year, including Carnival, which features colorful parades, music, and dancing. Aruba also hosts cultural events that showcase traditional crafts, music, and dance, providing visitors with a glimpse into the island's rich cultural tapestry. Despite its small size, Aruba's culture is diverse and vibrant, reflecting the island's unique blend of influences and its people's pride in their heritage.
