Tourist Visa

​Indian citizens planning to visit French Polynesia for tourism are required to obtain a visa prior to their arrival. French Polynesia, as an Overseas Collectivity of France, has its own visa policies distinct from mainland France and the Schengen Area. Therefore, a standard Schengen visa does not grant entry to French Polynesia.

French Polynesia is an overseas territory of France, and the visa requirements for tourists depend on your nationality. Here’s a general overview of the requirements:

1. European Union and Schengen Area Citizens

Visa Not Required: Citizens of EU countries or countries within the Schengen Area do not need a visa to visit French Polynesia for stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period. This applies to tourism, business, and family visits.

2. Citizens of Other Countries

Visa Not Required (Short Stays): Nationals from several countries, including the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and many others, do not require a visa for stays of up to 90 days for tourism purposes.

Visa Required (Longer Stays): If you plan to stay longer than 90 days, you will need to apply for a visa. This would generally involve applying at a French consulate or embassy in your home country.

3. General Requirements for Visa-Exempt Travelers (Tourist Stay)

• Valid Passport: Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned stay.
• Proof of Return or Onward Travel: You may need to show proof of a return flight or an onward ticket.
• Sufficient Funds: You may be asked to demonstrate that you have enough funds for your stay (e.g., bank statements or proof of income).
• Accommodation Details: Provide evidence of your accommodation bookings during your stay in French Polynesia.

4. Other Nationalities (Visa Application)

If you require a visa, the process will involve applying for a short-stay Schengen visa through a French embassy or consulate. You will need to submit documents such as:

• A completed visa application form.
• Valid passport.
• Passport-sized photos.
• Proof of travel insurance.
• Proof of accommodation.
• Proof of sufficient funds.
• Flight bookings.
• A cover letter explaining the purpose of your visit.
