Explore Bermuda

Bermuda, a British Overseas Territory located in the North Atlantic Ocean, is renowned for its stunning pink-sand beaches, turquoise waters, and unique blend of British and Caribbean influences. The culture of Bermuda is a colorful tapestry woven from its maritime heritage, diverse population, and centuries of history. English is the official language of Bermuda and is spoken by the majority of the population. The Bermudian accent, influenced by British English and African dialects, gives the language a distinctive local flavor. The official currency of Bermuda is the Bermudian Dollar (BMD), which is pegged to the United States Dollar (USD) at a fixed exchange rate of 1:1. Both currencies are widely accepted throughout the island, although the Bermudian Dollar is used for all transactions within the country. Bermudian culture is characterized by its maritime traditions, colorful festivals, and vibrant music scene. Gombey dancing, a traditional Bermudian dance performed by costumed troupes, is a highlight of cultural celebrations such as Bermuda Day and Christmas. Traditional Bermudian music, including steel pan, reggae, and calypso, adds to the festive atmosphere of the island. Bermuda's cuisine is influenced by its maritime history and diverse population, featuring dishes like fish chowder, codfish breakfast, and Bermuda fish sandwiches. Local ingredients such as fish, seafood, and tropical fruits are prominent in Bermudian cooking, reflecting the island's coastal location and fertile soil. The island's rich cultural heritage is showcased in its historic sites, museums, and landmarks. St. George's, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the oldest continuously inhabited English settlement in the New World and features well-preserved colonial architecture and historic sites. Other attractions include the Royal Naval Dockyard, Horseshoe Bay Beach, and the Crystal Caves. Despite its small size, Bermuda's culture is diverse and dynamic, reflecting its unique blend of British, African, Caribbean, and American influences. The island's stunning natural beauty, warm climate, and friendly atmosphere make it a popular destination for tourists seeking sun, sand, and a taste of island life.
