Explore Mayabunder

Mayabunder, located in North Andaman, is a serene and offbeat destination known for its unspoiled beaches, mangrove creeks, and colonial history. Unlike the more crowded tourist spots, Mayabunder offers a peaceful retreat amidst nature. One of its key attractions is Avis Island, a small, picturesque island with crystal-clear waters and a coconut plantation, perfect for a day trip. Karmatang Beach, often referred to as the “Turtle Paradise of India,” is another highlight where visitors can witness Olive Ridley turtles nesting during the breeding season. The beach’s long shoreline, soft sand, and shallow waters make it ideal for leisurely walks and swimming. Beyond its beaches, Mayabunder has a unique cultural mix due to its history as a settlement for Burmese and East Pakistani refugees. The town’s diverse heritage is reflected in its traditions and cuisine. For nature lovers, Rampur Beach and Interview Island offer stunning landscapes and wildlife encounters. Mayabunder remains an untouched gem in the Andaman Islands, perfect for travelers looking to explore a quieter, more authentic side of the archipelago.
