Explore Egypt

Egypt, located in North Africa and the Middle East, is renowned for its ancient civilization, iconic monuments, and vibrant culture. Arabic is the official language of Egypt, spoken by the majority of the population. The official currency of Egypt is the Egyptian Pound (EGP), abbreviated as "EGP" or "LE" (short for "livre égyptienne"). Egypt is famous for its ancient history, with iconic monuments such as the Great Pyramids of Giza, the Sphinx, and the temples of Luxor and Karnak drawing millions of visitors each year. The Pyramids of Giza, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, are among the most recognizable landmarks on Earth and showcase the incredible engineering skills of ancient Egyptians. Egyptian cuisine is diverse and reflects its cultural heritage, with influences from Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, and African cuisines. Staple ingredients include grains, legumes, vegetables, and meats, with dishes such as koshari (a mix of rice, lentils, and pasta), falafel, and ful medames (mashed fava beans) being popular street foods. Egypt's culture is deeply rooted in its ancient history and is characterized by its rich traditions, music, dance, and festivals. Traditional Egyptian music features a blend of Arabic and North African influences, with instruments such as the oud (lute), tabla (drum), and qanun (zither) being commonly used. The capital city, Cairo, is a bustling metropolis and home to world-class museums such as the Egyptian Museum, which houses an extensive collection of ancient artifacts, including the treasures of Tutankhamun. The city's historic Islamic quarter, known as Old Cairo, features medieval mosques, palaces, and bustling bazaars. In addition to its ancient wonders, Egypt is also known for its stunning natural landscapes, including the Nile River, the Red Sea coast, and the Sahara Desert. The Red Sea Riviera, with its crystal-clear waters and vibrant coral reefs, is a popular destination for diving, snorkeling, and beach vacations. Overall, Egypt offers a unique blend of ancient history, cultural heritage, and natural beauty, making it a must-visit destination for travelers interested in exploring the cradle of civilization.
