Explore Fort Kochi

Fort Kochi, located on the western coast of Kerala, is a charming coastal town that reflects centuries of colonial influence layered over traditional Kerala culture. Once a vital port in the spice trade, it was successively ruled by the Portuguese, Dutch, and British, all of whom left their mark on the town’s architecture, cuisine, and culture. The area is best known for its relaxed vibe, narrow winding streets, European-style buildings, and historic landmarks such as the Chinese Fishing Nets, St. Francis Church, and the Santa Cruz Basilica. Walking through Fort Kochi feels like stepping into a living museum where history, art, and daily life blend effortlessly. Beyond its historical allure, Fort Kochi is also a vibrant hub for art, performance, and modern culture. The town hosts the famous Kochi-Muziris Biennale, India’s largest contemporary art festival, and is dotted with cozy cafés, art galleries, antique shops, and boutique homestays. Its seaside promenade offers stunning sunset views, and Kathakali performances in traditional theaters give visitors a taste of Kerala’s classical arts. Fort Kochi is not just a destination—it's an experience that brings together the soul of Kerala and the echoes of its global past.
