Explore Gwalior

Gwalior is a city that breathes history, known for its magnificent Gwalior Fort, which stands tall on a rocky hill, offering breathtaking views. This fort, often referred to as "the Gibraltar of India," houses several attractions within, including Sas Bahu Temples, Man Singh Palace, and Gujari Mahal, which is now an archaeological museum. The city is also famous for Jai Vilas Palace, a stunning European-style residence of the Scindia royal family, featuring the world’s largest chandelier. Another major attraction is the Tansen’s Tomb, dedicated to the legendary musician from Akbar’s court, who was born in Gwalior. Apart from its historical richness, Gwalior is also a cultural and musical hub, being the birthplace of the Gwalior Gharana, one of the oldest schools of Hindustani classical music. Every year, the Tansen Music Festival attracts music lovers from across the country. The city’s markets, such as Patankar Bazaar and Sarafa Bazaar, offer exquisite handicrafts, stone carvings, and Chanderi silk fabrics. With its majestic forts, musical legacy, and royal palaces, Gwalior is a must-visit for history buffs and art lovers alike.
