Medina, often called the "City of the Prophet," is the second holiest city in Islam and a place of immense religious significance. It is the burial site of the Prophet Muhammad and home to the Al-Masjid an-Nabawi, or the Prophet’s Mosque. This sacred site is a key destination for millions of Muslim pilgrims who visit it as part of the Hajj or Umrah. The city has a peaceful ambiance, offering spiritual solace to its visitors. Medina is also known for its historical landmarks, including Quba Mosque, the first mosque built in Islam, and Mount Uhud, a site of a major battle during the Prophet’s time. The old bazaars and marketplaces near the mosque add to its traditional charm. In recent years, Medina has seen extensive development to accommodate pilgrims, including hotel expansions and infrastructure improvements. Despite this modernization, the city retains its historical essence, serving as a timeless reminder of its pivotal role in Islamic history.
