Tourist Visa

Indian citizens require a tourist visa to enter Mexico, and it's essential to apply for it before traveling. You'll need to apply at the Mexican embassy or consulate in India, and personal presence is required for the biometric process and interview. 

Indian citizens may not need a visa to enter Mexico if they have a valid visa from certain other countries. These countries include: Canada, United States, Japan, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and Countries of the Schengen Area.

To summarize the tourist visa requirements for Mexico and specific exemptions for Indian nationals and other nationalities:

Specific Requirements:

• Official/Clergy of Religious Organizations: Require prior authorization from the Mexican Immigration Authority (INM).

General Visa Application Requirements:

1. Passports:

o Original passport with at least 6 months validity and at least 2 blank pages.

o Original old passport booklets, if any.

2. Photographs:

o 2 photographs with a white background, glossy finish, 80% face coverage, clear visibility of eyes and face, dimensions 45mm x 35mm.

3. Covering Letter:

o Addressed to The Visa Officer, Embassy of Mexico.

o Brief profile of applicants, purpose of travel, and travel dates.

o On plain paper for individuals or company letterhead for officials/sponsored applicants.

4. Bank Statements:

o Original 6 months personal and company's bank statements with bank seal and signature.

o Statements showing proof of funds and income, preferably on A4 size paper.

5. IT Returns:

o Latest 3 years Income Tax Acknowledgement/ITR-V (Saral) of individuals and the company.

6. Itinerary / Air Tickets:

o Return air tickets and all internal flight/train tickets, if any.

o Day-wise itinerary of the tour.

7. Purpose of Travel / Accommodation:

o Proof of accommodation/purpose at the destination.

o Booking certificates and payment receipts from the tour operator.

o Hotel vouchers.

8. Supporting Credentials:

• Businessmen:

o Proprietorship certificate/Certificate of Registration/Memorandum of Association, Articles of Association/Partnership Deed.

o NOC from other partners or Directors in case of a partnership.

• Employees:

o Leave sanction letter from the company (from the Government body in case of Government employees/public servants).

o Last 3 months salary statements (only for private firms).

o Company ID card (optional).

o Retirement certificate or letter/Copy of Pension Book (for retired employees).

• Students:

o Leave sanction letter from the educational institution (for travel during working days).

o Bonafide certificate from the educational institution (for travel during vacations).

o School/College ID card (optional).

• Newly Wed / Honeymooners (if the spouse's name is not endorsed in their passports):

o Marriage certificate (original).

o Wedding invitation card/photographs (if the marriage certificate is not ready).

• Children traveling unaccompanied by both parents / either parent:

o Notary attested NOC on a stamp paper from both/either parent.

o Passport copies of both/either parent.

• Travelers unaccompanied by spouses/partners:

o Notary attested NOC on a stamp paper from the unaccompanied spouse.

o Passport copy of the unaccompanied spouse or any Govt ID Proof mentioning spouse name.

9. Additional Supporting Documents (if available):

• FD receipts from banks.

• Public shares/debentures certificate.

• Asset evaluation report from a CA.

• Endorsement on passport/receipt of purchase of foreign exchange.

Important Notes:

• Applicants will need to attend biometrics and a personal interview at the Embassy by scheduling an appointment through their online system.

• Personal presence of the applicant is mandatory for the biometric process and interview.

Multiple Immigration Form (FMM):

All visitors entering Mexico by land, including those who are visa-exempt, must obtain a Multiple Immigration Form (FMM). This form can be obtained online and should be presented at checkpoints within the country. 

Visa Exemptions:

  • Mexico allows visa-free entry for citizens of 68 countries and 3 Electronic Authorization System (ETA)-eligible countries, enabling them to visit as tourists, business travelers, or transit passengers.
  • Tourists and business visitors from visa-exempt countries can stay in Mexico for up to 180 days without a visa.
  • Transit visitors are permitted a stay of up to 30 days without a visa.
  • Travelers from non-exempt countries must apply for a Mexican visa before arrival. However, those holding valid visas or permanent residence permits from countries like the United States, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the Schengen Area may also be exempt from a separate Mexican visa.
