Explore Ninh Binh

Ninh Binh, often referred to as the "Halong Bay on land," is a picturesque province located in northern Vietnam, approximately 90 kilometers south of Hanoi. It is renowned for its stunning karst landscapes, lush rice paddies, ancient temples, and tranquil waterways, making it a popular destination for nature lovers and history enthusiasts alike. Ninh Binh is characterized by its towering limestone karsts, which resemble those found in Halong Bay but are nestled inland. These karsts, covered in lush vegetation, create a mesmerizing landscape of jagged peaks rising dramatically from flat rice fields and winding rivers. Two of the most famous attractions in Ninh Binh are Tam Coc and Trang An, both of which offer scenic boat rides through karst formations, caves, and lush countryside. Tam Coc, often referred to as the "Halong Bay inland," is known for its serene river journey flanked by rice paddies and limestone cliffs. Trang An, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, features a network of caves and waterways that can be explored by boat, with stops at ancient temples and pagodas along the way. Ninh Binh was once the capital of Vietnam during the Dinh and early Le dynasties in the 10th and 11th centuries. The ancient capital of Hoa Lu, situated amidst scenic surroundings, boasts historic temples and monuments dedicated to the early Vietnamese rulers. Visitors can explore the remains of royal palaces, temples, and pagodas while learning about the region's rich history. Bai Dinh Pagoda is one of the largest Buddhist complexes in Vietnam, comprising several temples, shrines, and statues spread across a vast area. The complex includes both ancient and modern structures, with the highlight being the Bai Dinh Pagoda, which houses the largest bronze Buddha statue in Vietnam. Ninh Binh's idyllic countryside and rural villages make it an excellent destination for cycling and trekking. Visitors can rent bicycles or join guided tours to explore the scenic landscapes, visit local villages, and interact with friendly locals. Popular routes include cycling through rice fields, along riverbanks, and past traditional Vietnamese homes. Located just outside of Ninh Binh, Cuc Phuong National Park is Vietnam's first national park and a haven for biodiversity. The park is home to diverse flora and fauna, including rare species such as the Delacour's langur and the Asian black bear. Visitors can explore the park's network of hiking trails, visit the Endangered Primate Rescue Center, and admire ancient trees and limestone caves. Overall, Ninh Binh offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and outdoor adventure, making it a must-visit destination for travelers exploring northern Vietnam.
