Explore Taif

Taif, nestled in the Sarawat Mountains in western Saudi Arabia, is a picturesque city known for its cool climate and lush landscapes. Sitting at an elevation of nearly 1,879 meters (6,165 feet), it offers a refreshing escape from the desert heat, making it a popular summer retreat for both locals and visitors. Its fertile valleys and greenery have earned it the title of "The City of Roses," as it is famous for cultivating fragrant Taif roses used in high-quality perfumes and rose water. The annual Taif Rose Festival celebrates this heritage with vibrant displays and cultural events. Historically and culturally significant, Taif is home to landmarks such as the Shubra Palace, a historic building turned museum, and the ancient Okaz Souq, revived as a cultural festival celebrating Arabic poetry, crafts, and traditions. The city holds a special place in Islamic history, as it served as a refuge for the Prophet Muhammad during his early mission. Scenic attractions like Al-Hada and Al-Shafa, with their breathtaking mountain views, hiking trails, and cable car rides, further enhance Taif's appeal as a tourist destination. Taif’s economy thrives on agriculture, with products like grapes, pomegranates, and honey complementing its rose industry. It also benefits from ongoing development projects under Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, which aim to boost tourism and modernize infrastructure. Combining natural beauty, rich history, and cultural vibrancy, Taif remains a cherished gem in the kingdom.
