Car Nicobar

Explore Car Nicobar

Car Nicobar, the administrative headquarters of the Nicobar Islands, is a beautiful and culturally rich destination known for its pristine beaches, tribal heritage, and lush coconut groves. Unlike the Andaman Islands, tourism in Car Nicobar is restricted due to its tribal population, but those who visit with special permits can experience its untouched beauty. The island is home to Nicobari huts, traditional wooden houses built on stilts that reflect the indigenous way of life. The Indira Point, India’s southernmost point, lies in this region, though it was partially submerged during the 2004 tsunami. The island’s natural beauty is evident in its Kakana Beach, where the turquoise waters and swaying palms create a picture-perfect tropical paradise. Car Nicobar is also known for its rich marine life, making it an excellent spot for snorkeling and fishing. While tourism is limited, the island’s strong tribal culture and conservation efforts make it a unique and fascinating destination for those interested in indigenous traditions and untouched landscapes.
