Tourist Visa

 To apply for a visa to Australia, whether it’s a tourist visa, a medical treatment visa, or a transit visa, you’ll need to prepare specific documents and follow a structured application process. Below are the detailed requirements for each type of visa.

Requirements for Australia Visa Application:

Common Requirements for All Visa Types:

1.     Passports:

•       Current Passport: Scanned copy of the bio-data pages and all used pages.

•       Old Passport: Scanned copy of the bio-data pages and all used pages (if applicable).

2.     Photographs:

•       Digital photo with the following specifications:

•       White background

•       Glossy finish

•       80% face coverage with a little shoulder visible

•       Eyes and face clearly visible

•       Dimensions: 45mm x 35mm

3.     Covering Letter:

•       Addressed to The Visa Officer, Australian High Commission, New Delhi.

•       Should include:

•       Brief profile of the applicant(s)

•       Purpose of travel

•       Travel dates

•       Format:

•       For individuals: on plain paper.

•       For officials/sponsored applicants: on company letterhead.

Additional Specific Requirements:

1. Tourist Visa:

1.     Itinerary / Air Tickets:

•       Return air tickets to and from Australia.

2.     Purpose of Travel / Accommodation:

•       Proof of employment.

•       Evidence of financial capability to support the trip (bank statements).

•       Hotel vouchers or proof of lodging.

2. Medical Treatment Visa:

1.     Medical Documentation:

•       Letter from a doctor or medical institution in Australia detailing the medical treatment, the need for the treatment, and the duration.

2.     Itinerary / Air Tickets:

•       Return air tickets to and from Australia.

3.     Financial Evidence:

•       Proof of financial capability to cover medical expenses and stay in Australia (bank statements, financial sponsorship if applicable).

3. Transit Visa:

1.     Itinerary / Air Tickets:

•       Return air tickets from Australia to the onward destination.

2.     Purpose of Travel / Accommodation:

•       Valid visa or residence permit for the onward country of destination.

•       Proof of employment.

•       Evidence of travel to a destination outside Australia.

•       Hotel vouchers or proof of lodging (hostel, hotel, etc.).

Steps to Apply for the Visa:

1.     Prepare All Required Documents:

•       Gather and scan all necessary documents as per the visa type you are applying for.

2.     Visit the Official Australian Visa Portal:

•       Access the official Australian visa application portal.

3.     Complete the Application Form:

•       Fill in the online application form with accurate personal details, travel information, and upload the required documents.

4.     Upload the Documents:

•       Attach the scanned copies of your current and old passports, digital photograph, covering letter, itinerary, and other relevant documents.

5.     Pay the Visa Fee:

•       Pay the applicable visa processing fee using the payment methods available on the portal.

6.     Submit the Application:

•       Review your application for accuracy and completeness, then submit it.

7.     Await Approval:

•       After submission, the processing time can vary. Once approved, you will receive your visa via email.

Tips for a Smooth Application Process:

•       Ensure all scanned documents are clear and legible.

•       Align your travel dates with the visa validity period.

•       Keep digital copies of all documents and your visa for your records and to present to border officials if needed.

•       Follow up with the visa processing office if you do not receive a response within the expected timeframe.

By following these steps and ensuring you have all the required documents, you can successfully apply for a visa to Australia, whether for tourism, medical treatment, or transit purposes.

Business Visa Requirements for Australia

Required Documents:

  1. Passports:
    • Scanned copy of the bio-data pages and all used pages of the current passport.
    • Scanned copy of the bio-data pages and all used pages of the old passport.
  2. Photographs:
    • Digital photo with white background and glossy finish.
    • 80% face coverage with a little shoulder to be seen, eyes and face clearly visible.
    • Dimensions: 45mm x 35mm.
  3. Covering Letter:
    • Addressed to The Visa Officer, Australian High Commission, New Delhi.
    • Should include the profile of the applicants and the purpose of travel with travel dates.
    • For officials/sponsored applicants, the covering letter must be on company letterhead.
  4. Bank Statements:
    • Copy of 3 months' personal and company online bank statements in non-encrypted PDF format.
    • Statements should be from relevant and active accounts showing proof of funds and income.
    • Statements should be of a closing date closer to the date of visa application.
  5. IT Returns:
    • Latest 3 years Income Tax Acknowledgement/ITR-V (Saral) of individuals and the company.
  6. Itinerary / Air Tickets:
    • Return air tickets and all internal flight/train tickets if any.
  7. Purpose of Travel / Accommodation:
    • Original introduction letter from the employer on business letterhead signed and stamped by HR or directorate, mentioning your position, duration of service, the dates, and purpose of the trip, and if expenses are being covered by the employer/company.
    • Letter of invitation from the host organization in Australia.
    • Conference/event registration details.
    • Employment contract.
  8. Supporting Credentials:
    • Businessmen:
      • Proprietorship certificate/Certificate of Registration/Memorandum of Association, Articles of Association/Partnership Deed/PAN Card.
      • NOC from other partners or directors in case of a partnership.
    • Employees:
      • Leave sanction letter from the company (or from the Government body in case of Government employees/public servants).
      • Last 3 months' salary statements (for private firms).
      • Company ID card (optional).
      • Retirement certificate or letter/copy of pension book (for retired employees).
      • Pension statements for the last three months.
    • Students:
      • Leave sanction letter from the educational institution (for travel during working days).
      • Bonafide certificate from the educational institution (for travel during vacations).
      • School/College ID card (optional).
    • Newly Weds / Honeymooners (if the spouse's name is not endorsed in their passports):
      • Marriage certificate (original).
      • Wedding invitation card/photographs (if the marriage certificate is not ready).
    • Children Traveling Unaccompanied by Both Parents / Either Parent:
      • Notary attested NOC on a stamp paper from both/either parent if both/either of them unaccompanied.
      • Passport copies/copy of both/either parent(s).
      • If parents don't have passports, birth certificate of the applicant and copies of the ID cards of the parents.
    • Travelers Unaccompanied by Spouses/Partners:
      • Notary attested NOC on a stamp paper from the unaccompanied spouse.
      • Passport copy of the unaccompanied spouse. If not a passport holder, any government ID proof mentioning the spouse's name can be submitted.
    • Additional Supporting Documents (if available):
      • FD receipts from banks.
      • Public shares/debentures certificate.
      • Asset evaluation report from a CA.
  9. Health Requirements:
    • Note: If you are applying for a long-stay visitor visa or are 75 years or over, you will be asked to undergo a health assessment and may be asked to show that you have medical insurance to cover your intended stay in Australia.
