Tourist Visa
Indian citizens need a Schengen visa to enter Italy. You need to apply for a Schengen visa, which permits travel within Italy and other Schengen Area countries. The type of visa depends on the purpose of your visit, whether it's for tourism, business, or studies. Indians cannot get a Visa upon arrival in Italy; they must apply beforehand.
For obtaining a tourist visa, especially for Italy, the following documents and particulars are generally required:
1. Passports:
Original Passport:
o Must have
at least 6 months validity.
o Must have
at least 2 blank pages.
Photocopies:
o Two sets
of photocopies of the applicant’s passport.
Old
Passport:
o Original
old passport booklets, if any.
2. Photographs:
Specifications:
o 3
photographs each.
o White
background.
o Glossy
finish.
o 80% face
coverage with a little shoulder visible.
o Eyes and
face clearly visible.
o Dimensions:
45mm x 35mm.
3. Covering
Letter:
For
Individuals/Families:
o Addressed
to The Visa Officer, Consulate General of Italy.
o Brief
profile of the applicants.
o Purpose
of travel with travel dates.
For
Officials/Sponsored Applicants:
o On the
company letterhead.
4. Bank
Statements:
Personal
and Company's Bank Statements:
o Original
3 months statements with bank seal and signature.
o Employee
number clearly visible.
o Proof of
funds and income.
o Statements
should be of a closing date close to the visa application date (A4 size
preferred).
Forex
Purchase/ Credit Card:
o Original
receipt and a copy of the Forex purchased.
o Latest
Credit card statement mentioning credit limit.
5. IT
Returns:
Income Tax Acknowledgement / ITR-V (Saral) / Form 16A:
o Latest 3
years for individuals and the company.
6. Itinerary / Air Tickets:
Tickets:
o Return
air tickets with all internal flight/train tickets.
Itinerary:
o Day-wise
itinerary of the tour.
Purpose of Travel / Accommodation:
Accommodation
Proof:
o Booking
Certificate and payment receipts from the tour operator.
Groups:
o Covering
letter from the tour operator with passenger details (Name, Date of Birth,
Passport No.).
o Hotel
vouchers.
7. Supporting
Credentials:
Businessmen:
o Proprietorship
certificate / Certificate of Registration / Memorandum of Association, Articles
of Association / Partnership Deed.
o NOC from
other partners or directors in case of partnership.
Employees:
o Leave
sanction letter from the company (or from the Government body in case of
government employees/public servants).
o Last 3
months’ salary statements (only for private firms).
o Company
ID card (optional).
o Retirement
Certificate or Letter / Copy of Pension Book (for retired employees).
Students:
o Leave
sanction letter from the educational institution (for travel during working
days).
o Bonafide
Certificate from the educational institution (for travel during vacations).
o School/College
ID card (optional).
Newly
Wed / Honeymooners:
o Marriage
Certificate (Original).
o Wedding
Invitation card / Photographs (if the marriage certificate is not ready).
Children
Travelling Unaccompanied:
o Notary
attested NOC on a stamp paper from both/either parent.
o Passport
copies of both/either parent.
Travellers
Unaccompanied by Spouses/Partners:
o Notary
attested NOC on a stamp paper from the unaccompanied spouse.
o Passport
copy of the unaccompanied spouse (or any Govt ID Proof mentioning spouse name).

8. Travel Insurance:
Specifications:
• Valid
Travel Insurance from embassy-approved companies.
• Coverage
for the days of travel.
• Minimum
coverage of EUR 30,000.
• Minimum
10 days insurance from the travel date.
These requirements ensure that all necessary documentation
is provided to support the visa application process, making it smoother and
more efficient.
Business Visa
1. Passports
• Original
Passport: Must be valid for at least 6 months with at least 2 blank pages. The
passport should have been issued within the last 10 years.
• Old
Passport: If you have any previous passport booklets, you need to include the
originals as well.
2. Photographs
• Quantity:
3 photographs.
• Specifications:
White background, glossy finish, 80% face coverage with a bit of shoulder
visible, clear eyes and face. Dimensions: 45mm x 35mm.
3. Covering Letter
• Addressed
to: The Visa Officer, Consulate of Italy.
• Details:
Brief the purpose of travel and business relations with the Italian business
partner. Must be on company letterhead for officials/sponsored applicants.
Also, include a cover letter from your employer.
4. Bank Statements
• Personal
Bank Statements: Original 3-months statements with bank seal and signature.
• Company
Bank Statements: Original statements for the last one year with bank seal and
signature.
• Proof of
Funds: Statements should be from relevant and active accounts showing proof of
funds and income. Statements should be of a closing date closer to the date of
visa application. A4 size preferred.
• Forex
Receipt or Credit Card Statement: Original receipt and a copy of the Forex
purchased or latest credit card statement mentioning the credit limit.
5. Income Tax Returns
• Latest 3
Years: Income Tax Acknowledgement / ITR-V (Saral) / Form 16A for individuals
and the company.
6. Itinerary / Air Tickets
• Return
Air Tickets: Including all internal flight/train tickets if any.
• Day-wise
Itinerary: Detailed itinerary for the entire trip.
7. Purpose of Travel / Accommodation
• Letter
from Indian Company: Explaining the purpose of the visit, professional status
of the applicant, details regarding activities and business relationship with
the Italian company. Should be signed by an authorized person, mentioning the
sponsor of the trip and attaching a copy of the company Registration
Certificate/Memorandum of Articles.
• Invitation
Letter (LoI): Needs to be sent via email by the inviting company to
commerciale.mumbai@esteri.it before Visa application submission. Attach a
colored copy of the LoI with the application.
• Identity
Proof of Italian Contact: Copy of the passport or identity card of the person
in Italy who is signing the invitation letter.
• Visura
Camerale: Copy of the inviting company’s registration with the local Chamber of
Commerce, dated not less than six months prior to the intended travel.
• Business
Relations Evidence: Proof of actual business relations in Italy.
8. Supporting Credentials
Businessmen
• Business
Documents: Proprietorship certificate / Certificate of Registration /
Memorandum of Association, Articles of Association/Partnership deed.
• NOC from
Partners/Directors: If it’s a partnership.
• Additional
Letters: From lawyer/chartered accountant/Chamber of Commerce concerning
evidence of established business, certificate of registration of the company
(Optional).
Employees
• Leave
Sanction Letter: From the company or Government body (for public servants).
• Salary
Statements: Last 3 months (only for private firms).
• Company
ID Card: Optional.
• Retirement
Certificate or Letter / Pension Book Copy: For retired employees.
Students
• Leave
Sanction Letter: From the educational institution for travel during working

Passport Copy: If not a passport holder, any government ID proof mentioning the
spouse's name can be submitted.
Sponsored Applicants
• Proof of
Sponsorship: Private accommodation proof by completing a national form of the
Schengen State concerned.
• Pension
Statements: Last three months.
• Proof of
Regular Income: Generated by ownership of property or business.
9. Additional Supporting Documents
• FD
Receipts from Banks.
• Public
Shares/Debentures Certificate.
• Asset
Evaluation Report from a CA.
10. Travel Insurance
• Coverage:
Valid travel insurance from Embassy-approved companies covering the days of
travel with a minimum coverage of EUR 30,000. Minimum 10 days insurance is
mandatory from the travel date.
Ensure all documents are properly organized and meet the
specified requirements to facilitate a smooth visa application process.
