Tourist Visa

Travelers planning to visit Chad for tourism purposes are required to obtain a visa prior to arrival. The country offers both traditional embassy-issued visas and an electronic visa (eVisa) system for added convenience.

1. eVisa (Electronic Visa)

Chad has introduced an eVisa system, streamlining the application process for travelers.

2. Embassy Visa

Alternatively, travelers can apply for a visa through a Chadian embassy or consulate.​

Documents and Particulars

1. Passports:

Original Passport with at least 6 months validity and at least 2 blank pages.

Photocopy of the first, second, and last page of the passport.

2. Photographs:

Two passport-size photographs.

3. Covering Letter:

A covering letter per individual/family/company addressed to The Visa Officer, Embassy of Chad.

The covering letter should brief the profile of the applicants and the purpose of travel with travel dates.

The covering letter can be on plain paper for individuals and on the company letterhead for officials/sponsored applicants.

4. Itinerary / Air Tickets:

Confirmed onward/return air tickets.

5. Purpose of Travel / Accommodation:

Any proof of your accommodation/purpose at the destination/Booking Certificate and payment receipts from the tour operator.

Invitation letter from Chad.

Hotel reservations or proof of accommodation.

Proof of sufficient funds.

6. Health Requirements:

A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required for travelers over 1 year of age.

7. Personal Presence:

Personal presence of the applicant is mandatory during the application submission.

Important Considerations

  • Visa Exemptions: Citizens of certain countries, including Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, and Niger, do not require a visa for stays up to 90 days.​
  • Transit Passengers: Travelers transiting through Chad without leaving the airport and continuing their journey within 48 hours do not require a visa.​
  • Police Registration: All visitors must register with the local police within 72 hours of arrival in Chad.​
  • Health Requirements: A valid yellow fever vaccination certificate is mandatory for entry into Chad
