Tourist Visa

Indian passport holders are required to obtain a sticker visa before traveling to Nicaragua.

Visa Requirements for Nicaragua

  • Visa-Exempt Countries: Citizens of many countries, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and all European Union member states, can enter Nicaragua without a visa for stays of up to 90 days. Upon arrival, these travelers are required to purchase a Tourist Card for approximately US$10. ​
  • Countries Requiring a Visa: Nationals from countries not on the visa-exempt list must obtain a tourist visa prior to arrival. This includes travelers from countries such as India, China, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, and others.


​Required Documents:

  • Passport: Valid for at least 6 months with a minimum of 3 blank pages.​
  • Photographs: Two recent passport-sized color photos.​
  • Visa Application Forms: Two completed and signed forms.​
  • Cover Letter: Explaining the purpose of travel.​
  • Bank Statement: Last 3 months' statements with bank seal.​
  • Flight Tickets: Proof of return flight bookings.​
  • Hotel Reservations: Proof of accommodation for the entire stay.​
  • Travel Itinerary: Day-wise plan of your trip.​

Additional Documents Based on Occupation:

  • Employed: Leave sanction letter and last 3 months' salary slips.​
  • Self-Employed: Business registration documents and company bank statements.​
  • Students: Valid student ID card.​
  • Retired: Proof of retirement benefits. ​

Central American Single Visa (CA-4)

Nicaragua is part of the CA-4 Agreement, allowing travelers to visit Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, and Nicaragua with a single visa. This visa is valid for up to 90 days across all four countries.

Tips for Travelers

  • Yellow Fever Vaccination: If you're arriving from a country with a risk of yellow fever transmission, a vaccination certificate is required. ​
  • Tourist Card: All visitors must purchase a $10 USD tourist card upon arrival. ​
  • Application Timing: It's advisable to apply for the visa at least 1–3 months before your intended travel date to accommodate processing times.
