Tourist Visa 

To visit Papua New Guinea (PNG) as a tourist, you can apply for a Tourist eVisa online through the official Immigration & Citizenship Authority (ICA) portal.

Visa on Arrival (VoA)

As of recent updates, Visa on Arrival (VoA) is available for citizens of select countries at designated entry points, such as Port Moresby International Airport. However, eligibility criteria can change, and it's recommended to verify your eligibility before relying on VoA

To apply for a tourist visa for Papua New Guinea, you will need to prepare the following documents:

Documents Required

1. Passport

A valid passport with at least 6 months of validity remaining.

Photocopies of the bio-data pages of the passport.

2. Photographs

Two recent passport-size photographs.

3. Covering Letter

A typed covering letter from the applicant or the company addressed to The Visa Officer, High Commission of Papua New Guinea. This letter should state the purpose of travel, duration of stay required, and type of visa required.

4. Bank Statements

Updated bank statements for the last 6 months with the bank's seal and signature, showing the applicant's name and address.

5. Purpose of Travel / Accommodation

Visiting Relatives:

o Invitation letter from a friend or relative in Papua New Guinea.

o Copy of the bio-data pages and visa pages of the inviter's passport.

Own Itinerary / Tour Package:

o Confirmed hotel bookings in Papua New Guinea.

Visiting Parents/Spouse Working in Papua New Guinea:

o Birth certificate or marriage certificate if children or spouse are visiting parents or spouse working in Papua New Guinea.

General:

o Daily itinerary.

o Confirmed air tickets.

Application Process

1. Online Application: Complete the application on the official ICA eVisa portal.

2. Required Documents:

  • Valid passport (minimum 6 months validity).
  • Recent passport-sized photograph.
  • Proof of accommodation in PNG.
  • Return or onward travel ticket.
  • Additional documents as specified during the application process.

3. Fees: A visa fee of USD 50 is applicable.

4. Processing Time: Typically processed within 48 hours, but it's advisable to apply well in advance of your travel date

Always check with the High Commission of Papua New Guinea for any additional requirements or updates to the visa application process before applying.

Additional Information

  • Health Requirements: No mandatory vaccinations are currently required, but it's recommended to be up-to-date with routine vaccinations.
  • Currency Regulations: Amounts exceeding PGK 20,000 must be declared upon entry or exit.
  • Visa Extensions: For information on extending your stay, contact the ICA directly.
