Tourist Visa 

For obtaining a tourist visa, specifically for Portugal, applicants must follow certain requirements and provide the necessary documentation. Below is a detailed list of the required documents and particulars for the application process:

Important Note:

From November 2, 2015, applicants need to provide Biometric fingerprint data and a digital photograph at the Visa Application Centre with a prior appointment. The biometrics will be valid for 5 years after submission.

Required Documents and Particulars:

1. Passports

Original passport with at least 6 months validity and at least 2 blank pages.

Any original old passport booklets, if applicable.

2. Photographs

2 photographs each with the following specifications:

o White background

o Glossy finish

o 80% face coverage with a little shoulder visible

o Eyes and face clearly visible

o Dimensions: 45mm x 35mm

3. Covering Letter

A covering letter per individual, family, or company addressed to The Visa Officer, Embassy of Portugal.

o Should include the applicant’s profile, purpose of travel, and travel dates.

o Can be on plain paper for individuals and on company letterhead for officials or sponsored applicants.

4. Bank Statements

Original personal and company bank statements for the last 1 year, with bank seal and signature.

o Should be from relevant and active accounts showing proof of funds and income.

o Closing date should be close to the date of visa application (A4 size preferred).

5. Income Tax Returns (IT Returns)

Latest 3 years Income Tax Acknowledgement / ITR-V (Saral) for individuals and the company.

6. Itinerary / Air Tickets

Return air tickets, including all internal flight/train tickets if any.

A day-wise itinerary of the tour.

7. Purpose of Travel / Accommodation

Proof of accommodation and purpose at the destination, such as booking certificates and payment receipts from the tour operator.

Hotel vouchers.

8. Supporting Credentials

Businessmen:

o Proprietorship certificate / Certificate of Registration / Memorandum of Association, Articles of Association / Partnership Deed.

o NOC from other partners or directors in case of partnership.

Employees:

o Leave sanction letter from the company (from the government body in case of government employees/public servants).

o Last 3 months' salary statements (only for private firms).

o Company ID card (optional).

o Retirement certificate or letter / Copy of Pension Book (for retired employees).

o Pension statements for the last three months.

Students:

o Leave sanction letter from the educational institution (for travel during working days).

o Bonafide certificate from the educational institution (for travel during vacations).

o School/College ID card (optional).

Newly Wed/Honeymooners (if the spouse's name is not endorsed in their passports):

o Original marriage certificate.

o Wedding invitation card / Photographs (if the marriage certificate is not ready).

Children Traveling Unaccompanied by Both/Either Parent:

o A notary-attested NOC on a stamp paper from both/either parent respectively if both/either of them do not accompany.

o Passport copies/copy of both/either of the parents.

o In case parents don't have passports, the birth certificate of the applicant and copies of the ID cards of the parents.

Travelers Unaccompanied by Spouses/Partners:

o A notary-attested NOC on a stamp paper from the unaccompanied spouse.

o Passport copy of the unaccompanied spouse. If not a passport holder, any government ID proof mentioning the spouse's name can be submitted.

9. Additional Supporting Documents (if available)

Fixed deposit (FD) receipts from banks.

Public shares/debentures certificates.

Asset evaluation report from a Chartered Accountant (CA).

10. Travel Insurance

Valid travel insurance from embassy-approved companies covering the days of travel with a minimum coverage of EUR 30,000.
