Tourist Visa

​As of April 18, 2025, Turkmenistan has enacted a new law introducing electronic visas (e-visas), aiming to simplify the entry process for foreign nationals. This development eliminates the previous requirement for a formal Letter of Invitation (LOI) from a licensed Turkmen travel agency, which was a significant barrier for tourists.

However, the specifics regarding the types of e-visas available, their issuance procedures, and validity periods are yet to be detailed by the Turkmen government. Until the e-visa system is fully operational, travelers must adhere to the existing visa application process.
 

Visa Policy:

• Individual Tourist Visas: Not issued.

• Group Visas: Only available for groups and must be pre-arranged by authorized agents in Turkmenistan.

Procedure for Group Visa:

1. Contact Authorized Agents:

o Groups wishing to travel to Turkmenistan must coordinate with authorized travel agents in Turkmenistan who will handle the visa arrangements.

2. Pre-Arrangement:

o The travel agent in Turkmenistan will arrange the group visa, including obtaining the necessary approvals from Turkmenistan’s immigration authorities.

3. Documents:

o The travel agent will provide a list of required documents, which typically includes:

• Passport copies of all group members.
• Completed visa application forms.
• Proof of travel arrangements and accommodation.
• Any additional documentation as specified by the agent.

4. Visa Issuance:

o The group visa will be issued and sent to the travel agent, who will then distribute it to the group members before departure.

Additional Notes:

• Ensure that all arrangements are made well in advance of your planned travel date.
• Verify any specific requirements or updates with the travel agent or the nearest Turkmenistan embassy before finalizing plans.
• Registration: Upon arrival in Turkmenistan, you must register with the State Migration Service within 3 working days.
• Restricted Areas: Travel to certain zones requires special permission.
• Tourist Visa Validity: Typically issued for stays up to 30 days, with single or multiple entry options.
